Granted, we start early (0800 in the morning. Yay. I’m in need of a nap already..).

Granted, travelling from home to college can take some time (I’m up since 0600, whence me needing a nap).

Gut fuck you (general you), if you ain’t able to properly plan your travel, and show up at 8:45, instead of 8:15 in the morning. Why do you bother in the first place? If you don’t think you need to visit all of the session, stay the fuck at home. It’s no use showing up later. The sessions start seamlessly. Stay home, get sleep, and let teh rest of us work without interruption.

Als verantwortungsvoller, mündiger Bürger sollte man sich mit den wählbaren Parteien auseinandersetzen.

Also auf, herausfinden wer so alles gewählt werden darf (bevor’s darum geht wen man überhaupt wählen kann), außer den üblichen Verdächtigen CDU, SPD, FDP, und den anderen Extremisten.

Die Webseite des Innenministerium NRW ist dafür allerdings schlicht unbrauchbar. Dafür kann ich allerdings herausfinden welches Rundschreiben zuletzt verschickt wurde. Toll.

Google bringt auch nix, dafür weiß ich jetzt, dass die Rentner sogar zwei Parteien (minimum!) ins Rennen schicken werden. Auch toll.

Das, in etwa, fasstzumindest diePerspektive der Medien von Amoklaeufern und, zufaelligerweise, auch Jugendlichen im Ganzen. Nur die Arbeitslosigkeit ist, in diesem Zusammenhang, optional. Trotzdem schoen, wenn es so war, denn dann kann man den Untergang des Abendlandes hervorrangend beschwoeren.

Es ist der Versuch, das Unerklaerliche zu erklaeren. Wie will man auch erklaeren, dass jemand kaltbluetig andere Menschen ermordet? Das geht nicht. Weder im Kleinen des Amoklaufes, noch im Grossen des Krieges. Homo homini lupus est, wie die alten Roemer schon wussten: Der Mensch ist des Menschen Wolf.

Aber statt die Hilflosigkeit, die wir alle im Angesicht des Unbegreifbaren spueren, einzugestehen und offen zu sagen “Wir wissn’s, vestehen’s, auch nicht”, werden die Schuldigen schnell ausgemacht: Die gewalttaetigen Spiele, die das Morden und den Umgang mit Waffen lehren wuerden (ich habe schon, im Schuetzenverein, mit 16 Jahren Gewehre abgefeuert. Kein Spiel kann das trainieren. Nichts auf das Gewicht der Waffe und den Rueckstoss vorbereiten, ausser man lernt den Umgang am Objekt.). Die uns desensitieren (und nich, beispielsweise die Nachrichten, die uns jeden Abend Bilder von Mord und Totschlag, Katastrophen und Untaten zeigen), und gefuehllos machen (und nicht die zunehmende Etnfernung die wir Menschen zu einander aufbauen, allen MyFaceBooks und LinkedXings zum Trotz).

Dennoch kann man kaum dem Widersprechen, dass die Taeter nicht nur Taeter, sondern auch Opfer sind. In dem wir, als Gesellschaft, als Nachbarn, als Freunde, in einem realen Sinn versagen, nicht die richtigen Worte und Gesten finden die noetig waeren um unserem Gegenueber zu zeigen “Hallo, hier bin ich. Ich bin Mensch wie du, und hoere zu”.

Ich weiss nicht, ob es diese richtigen Worte gibt. Geben kann. Ich bin genauso hilflos im Angesicht des Unfassbaren wie alle anderen. Aber wenn ich mir das typische Profil eines Amoklaeufers ansehe, dann frage ich mich jedesmal: “Warum der, und nicht ich?”. Ich finde keine Antworten auf diese Frage. Zumindest keine einfache.

Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ich eine Feigling war und bin. Vielleicht daran, dass ich nie Verzweifelt (oder im Fall von Tim K. deprimiert genug) war, um den Entschluss zu fassen, heute bringe ich jemanden um. Aber vermutlich liegt es an Freunden, die mich gut genug kannten, um zu wissen wie man mit mir umgehen muss.

Aber ich weiss, die Linie die mich von Amoklaeufern trennt, ist sehr, sehr schmal.

Was hat mich davon abgehalten? Gott war’s nicht. Die Politik nicht. Aber wahrscheinlich du.

After a quick phone call, scan and email of my work-contract, I am finally in the system again, having health insurance and all. I can now easily go and see a doctor. Woohoo.

This makes me wonder, what took so long in the first place? The blame seems to lie squarely on the IKK Direct’s shoulders, since they just didn’t care. But hapily took my money. Bastards.

And a hooray for quick, uncomplicated service, please.

Germany has a strange system of health insurance.  On the one hand, there are the private health insurers. You cannot go to a private insurance, if you don’t earn enough money. You pay your medical bills, and the insurance pays you back (essentially). Then there are the public insurers. They have to take close to everyone as customer, and aren’t directly accountable. You, as a patient, never see a bill. This is all handled between the medical provider and the insurances. As is proper, the more patients a doctor has, the less he earns, because a fixed budget has to be split across many more services rendered.

No, it doesn’t make sense to me, either.

Back in October, I was able to secure a job for me again, which also meant I could get health insurance again (that I wasn’t insured is not standard in Germany. I made a couple of mistakes regarding my unemployment benefits and reporting).

That’s where the trouble starts.

Even though I am employed by a German corporation, my work place is not in Germany. Despite telling as such to my prospective health insurer, they didn’t contact me via email, or the phone. They sent letters. To my postal address. I didn’t have the time, nor the money, to go to Germany to check my mail every weekend, or so.

After a lot of phone calls, urgent faxes, and even more phone calls, I thought I could expect my insurance card once I have vacation time.

So, finally, I get to go home. Obviously, my insurane card was not waiting for me. So, once there is time after the holidays I phone up my health insurance. No record of me exists in their system. But wait, they merged with another insurer, forming Germany’s largest health insurance. While the hotline people were very helpfull, I ended up in resending some paperwork. This happend January 7th 2009. Yesterday, I wasn’t in the system still. The hotline agent escalated the urgency of my application.

January 8th: Still no record in the system. I get a bit annoyed, and make my opinion known. The poor agent took it in stride, and promised me to send my applciation for preliminary coverage. This should be done by tomorrow. I’m not holding my breath.

I wouldn’t care, if I wouldn’t have to see a doctor because a small haemogram showed an odd finding. Nothing to worry about, since I have no other symptoms, and my employeer needs a clean bill of health for me, before I can get back to work.

Of course, since October, my health insurance happily took in my premium.

I am not a happy camper.
